You can choose amongst a variety of standard features.
Therefore, you are able to obtain the optimal fitting kernel for building your application.
So, you can optimize between kernel features, kernel size and the level of specialization on
your specific hardware.
IMPORTANT: The options listed below are the so called "standard options" for Sphere SP 2.0.
Other specialized features or options are also possible.
For more information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Number of Threads
You can select the maximum number of concurrent threads.
This has impact on the RAM size of your application.
So, choose 512 for extremely small applications and 8192
if you need this much threads or if size doesn't matter.
max. 512 Threads
(512-XXX-XXX-XXX)
max. 8192 Threads
(8192-XXX-XXX-XXX)
FPU-Support
If your target processor also has a FP-Unit, the operating system must support
the FPU if your application uses FP-Operations.
no FP support
(XXX-NFP-XXX-XXX) FPU support
(XXX-FPU-XXX-XXX)
I/O-Protection
If your application needs full I/O-protection (rarely in a single process system)
you can also get a configuration equipped with full I/O-protection.
I/O-protection disabled
(XXX-XXX-NIO-XXX) I/O-protection enabled
(XXX-XXX-IOP-XXX)
Processor Platform
The processor platform has impact on performance.
Currently, you can choose between 386 for better compatibility
and 486 for higher performance.
386 or higher
(XXX-XXX-XXX-386) 486 or higher
(XXX-XXX-XXX-486)
Usage
The numbers in brackets are the configuration numbers.
For a specific configuration combine these numbers to specify it.
Example: The configuration number for the Sphere SP 2.0 Microkernel
with
- a maximum of 512 threads,
- FPU-support,
- no I/O-protection
- for 486 and higher
is 512-FPU-NIO-486.
